Matasaa Media Link Company, publishers of Katsina Times and Taskar Labarai online as well as the Katsina Times Magazine, that delves into the history, development, progress and people of Kantsina state, with its base in Katsina, wishes to congratulate Malam Kabir Yusuf on his new appointment as the National Chairman of Newspaper Proprietors Association of Nigeria, (NPAN).
Malam Kabir Yusuf hails from Katsina and is the Grandson of the Emir of Kantsina Umarun Dallaje who was one of the flag bearers of Sheikh Uthman bin Fodio (RA).
Malam Kabir Yusuf has crossed a lot of milestones and and set a lot of records in the journalism profession within and outside Nigeria where he worked with several news outfits before he established the Daily Trust Newspaper.
His achievements as a journalist in both the print and broadcast media cannot be overemphasized. It is on record that he is the only Nigerian journalist that was in Iraq when the United States of America invaded it. He had reported from South Africa as a journalist during the tensive years of the country and had worked in Lagos during its hey days as well.
He broke the jinx and wrong impression that private owned newspapers cannot be established and sustained in the northern part of Nigeria with the establishment of Daily Trust, a leading newspaper in Nigeria.
Malam Kabiru Yusuf remains a household name in Katsina and identifies with his ancestors from the Dallazawa dynasty as well as all those from Katsina state.
His recent election as the leader of NPAN is indeed a worthy achievement for the industry.
